Scott Milan, Painter: I started by painting “Chef Pants”, connecting with my culinary background and turning the kitchen uniform into a physical form: painter pants, hand-painted with lines of ‘house paint’, reminiscent of a quick cross-hatch, based on the gingham-patterned textile that is the main design component of chef pants. Eventually incorporating different styles, developing more iterations, a language using color, continued working with pattern, abstraction, and experimentation. Most recently, I am creating large-scale abstractions.
